Discover "Chapel Branch Creek" pre-dating history prior to 1825 where a Ferry boat was once established carrying passengers and goods across the Mighty Santee River. With over 5 miles of shoreline to explore, the creek borders Santee State Park as a tributary to Lake Marion.
Sheltered in a cove and out of the "big lake" you can paddle or pedal to "sandy beach point', get out and relax, and go fishing while viewing beautiful Lake Marion. Or, journey "up the creek" to see unique small limestone caves on the shoreline and wetland wading birds alongside cypress trees lined with Spanish moss. On occasion, you can also see a shy and elusive American Alligator. Paddlers have enjoyed the waters for over 50 years seeing South Carolina's unique geology and wildlife.
